Between the cultures - Essay ExampleThe city was strangely quiet. Nobody was in the streets and it seemed like everyone was dead. Since it was my first night in the city, I was wondering what physique of city it was. I forced my way back towards home with no bread, and ready to starve till the next morning. I was eightsomeeen years old, and I had been accepted in Yazd University, in the city of Yazd in my country, Iran. I rented an apartment with three other friends of mine and we moved in only that day. It was the first era we had left our homes. All of us were inexperienced in the home affairs, and now we were in a new and strange city with weird people for studying. I had grown up in Tehran, which is the capital of Iran. It had a population of more than ten million people. Whenever you wanted, you could find a grocery store, a restaurant or anything else you wished. Many people immigrated from country sides to Tehran for business, studying and residence in the most developed ci ty of Iran. Tehran was a multicultural city. Every Persian enjoyed living in such a big city like Tehran. But at the age of eighteen, I moved four hundred miles farther from Tehran, to the city of Yazd. It was a small city with religious and intolerant people. Most of the men in Yazd wore beard and women used black burka. People of Yazd had a traditionalistic life which was very hard for me to adapt. The new environment, situations and differences between my hometown and Yazd caused the feeling that I was living between two different cultures. I always liked my hometowns culture, but I was not interested in the culture of Yazds people. It was really annoying for me and the students from the other cities to be a part of the same. I was in a constant struggle between the two cultures, however it was hard to ignore and get rid of it. The next day after starving, I and my friends went to the university to send-off our new semester. The university was similarly a weird place like the city of Yazd and its inhabitants. The security freaks the fashion of every boy and girl at the entrance furnish of the campus. They had banned jeans pants for the boys, and it was obligatory for girls to use black burka. Every physical and verbal contact between a boy and a girl was account immediately to the student life office. Also in the classrooms, front seats belonged to boys and rear seats belonged to girls. The university had lots of rules for segregating boys and girls. They knew their rules according to the Islamic creed. They tried to unify students culture, which I felt disgusted about. Sometimes I thought Taliban moved in from Afghanistan to our university in Yazd. I and my friends had never seen such a university like that. We had never pass judgment anything of this sort. On the way back home, we bought lots of food to keep in our cooler because we didnt like to suffer due to hunger after eight oclock when everything got closed. When we got home, we were still sur prised and wondered about our first day at the university. We started to talk and laugh about ridiculous rules of our university. After a dapple one of our friends, who had a late evening class arrived at the main the door of the apartment. Since the door bell was broken and he didnt have the key, he called through his cell phone to us, and asked us to drop the key for him from the balcony. One of my friends went into the balcony and dropped the key for him and he came upstairs. As he walked into the apartment, we heard a very gimcrack sound. Someone was knocking the main door of

Critique of Feminism in American Cinema Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Critique of Feminism in American Cinema - Essay ExampleIn the process, feminist ideologies in American cinema were hijacked, distracted, thwarted, and softened by masculine logic from the promising ambition to change and transform gender-biased patriarchal social structures. These three articles explained where feminism in American cinema came from, how it got to where it is now, and suggested ways to resolve issues and disc everyplace important answers.Writing more than 25 years ago, Mayne (1981) gave two clearly distinguished meanings of womens cinema. One meaning is films make by women, and the other meaning is films made for women (p. 27). The first part of her article attempted to explain how films within each of these traditional definitions were transformed by feminists over time, using the woman at the keyhole metaphor to show how women gained status from being objects of voyeuristic curiosity and into curious voyeurs themselves.Mayne argued that there is a need to consider w hat relationships women engender had traditionally and historically, as filmmakers and as film consumers, to the medium (p. 28) in order to understand how women make movies (p. 28). This argument founded on masculine (business-based) logic masks a underlying natural fact that men and women are different and that women and their feminist representation in cinema would be a constantly evolving and a permanently compound and elusive goal. Mayne explained that while it is true that having women at the other end of the keyhole is typical of masculine voyeuristic tendencies, it is also true that women love being seen, watched, and admired (p. 33-34).They necessitate to feel and look beautiful, not for any reason or motive that is a sign of inferiority, but because that is how they are wired, and nothing is bad about that. It is save not good if such a natural human tendency is associated with a (blonde-haired or beautiful-faced) lack of intellectual capacity. This hasty subjective re action, no exit how one looks at it, and whether it is applied to women or men, is more a reflection of the one who makes rash judgments based on looks and appearances and not based on inside substance. This is why women are the ultimate dialecticians, Mayne declared, recalling Ruby Rich, who argued that for a woman today, film is a dialectical experience in a way that it never was and never will be for a man under patriarchy (p. 40). Like Brechts ultimate dialectician who lives the tension of two different cultures, women bring into the movie theater a context and a certain coding from life outside the theater. This is perhaps the reason why women love different films in different ways, and why almost films made by and for women reach their audiences in unique ways.Feminism in cinema has certainly shaped the way actors act and filmmakers - both men and women - do films, making the human experience richer and more sophisticated. This is good for all, not only for men and the patria rchy to understand women a bit separate, but also for women to better understand themselves and how they look at the world. Making, watching and critiquing movies are, indeed, different and complex (p. 41-42). Also, they reflect the natural differences between men and women that provide the artistic cinematic world a dialectic tension that contributes to its magic, as cinema as a powerful medium of gender-based artistic expression must necessarily clash with cinema as an

There are many intercultural dynamics.North Africans living in Belgium and France are living in a society that is multicultural on one hand, and oppressive towards them on the other. These European countries are no longer colonial occupiers of North African countries they are destinations for immigration. However, in terms of giving it is also important to think about cultural communication in the light of multicultural society. In France, for example, Islamic culture is directed towards a situation, where people lose their uniqueness and individuality to compromise to a standard which means the loss of diversity reflections in mainstream assimilation culture. This idea of Europe as an immigration destination through metaphor has become challenged recently , and multiculturalism holds that assimilation into the mainstream culture is one thing, but retention ones own culture (and, in the case of Islam, for example, religion) extant is another that needs significant attention, and may not fit in with the french or Belgian immigration theory as it exists in general discourse. There should be no room in the delivery system for thought process that suggests that ability can be determined along racial lines. Establishing close ties to the local community is an effective way of eliminating this sort of out-group thinking that can race to stereotyping and discrimination at the policy and funding levels. By establishing these links and nurturing them, France and Belgium can align the helping environment with the needs of the local community, rather than isolating it in terms of policy that does not reflect the wants and needs of the surrounding macrocosm of society.Race, nationality, and

Some seek also suggests that it is even lower in numbers. Some major campaigns have been initiated world wide in order to conserve this specie e. g.the project tiger initiative in India which has the l argest population of tigers, has been on a campaign since 1973, initially spearheaded by Indira Gandhi. Fundamental accomplishments have been the establishment of over 25 well-monitored tiger reserves in reclaimed province where human development is not allowed. 2. Background information The tiger as it is commonly known has the scientific name Panthera tigris. It is a member of the family Felidae the largest of the four big cats in the genus Panthera.More information about its classification is as follows Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Chordata, house Mammalia, Order Carnivora, Family Felidae, Genus Panthera, Species P. tigris. The plan One of the proposed plans to save this endangered species is to reclaim land occupied by people that were originally habitat for this fleshly, secondly there is need to introduce new and strict measures to curb the poaching menace to the animal species. The most endangered species are recommended for zoos in order to preserve them and prevent them from becoming extinct. It is more than evident that the Washington DC zoo is campaigning highly on the fact mission of saving this specie even though the zoo might not be able to accommodate all the endangered species of the animal. In order to be able to accomplish this, the zoo management has established a research centre that is dedicated to the well being and livelihood of the tiger. 5. Estimate follow It is better to recommend the animal to be breed in the wild than keeping it in the Zoo.This is so due to high cost of breeding in the Zoo and since it is a wild cat, being kept in the wild while monitoring their development is necessary and this is the work of the research institutions that have been established in the Zoo. 6. Conclusions Since the major problem that this animal is experiencing is deforestation, poaching, and fragmentation. It is rather proper to take precautionary steps such as land reformation by a forestation in deforested areas to allow the tiger to breed fully to increase in population.

The policies and political stability of New Zealand would promote Banqer as the country aims to achieve inclusive education system (Banqer, 2017).Economic factorsThe economic condition of New Zealand is excellent with 3.5% GDP growth as in 2014 (Tradingeconomics, 2017). People get under ones skin adopted the latest technology in order to cope up with the garbage and helps to not pollute the atmosphere (Crossley, et al., 2015). Certain initiatives are taken in order to make the country free from pollution and dust which is overly abided by Banqer. The SWOT analysis is an effective framework to understand how a company in sector compare its internal and external conditions within an industry. Banqer as a startup has been effective in simulating financial exercises and helping students to gain literacy in the topic and subject. The following contains a brief discussion about its various strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.StrengthsThe study strength of the start-up has been to u nderstand the key to develop STEM (Science and Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) among schooldays kids. In this regard, the company has tried to the bridge the gap that was short letterd in the endeavours to focus on these subjects in Australian and New Zealand school systems. Another major strength of the company has been word-of-mouth marketing that helped built its credibility, mostly because the teachers who had tried the system understood its ingenuity and efficiency (startupdaily, 2015). The company has also grown on the basis of its partnerships with renowned firms like those in real estate to develop modules for students and attract more kids who would be more interested in such subjects. What has also worked for Banqer is their simple pay model which starts at free of cost for the initial trial period after which 3.5 dollars are charged per student per semester, which goat expurgate down to 2 dollars if the student signs up for multiple semesters (stuff.co.nz, 201 5). It has also partnered with Kiwibank in order to provide better flexibility to students who cannot support their subscription fees.WeaknessesOne of the major weaknesses can be noted is the lack of diversification in the kinds of services that are offered. At present, the company is only focussed in the financing subject which could pose problems for the company. Another problem that can be noted is to rope in the appropriate investor for the project. The company is looking to reach a high saturation point before entering into other markets. In this regard, it is looking for investors who can form part of the team but also who need to understand the basic plan of the start-up and not meddle with the inherent strategy of the company.Another initial challenge that had proved to be a weakness in the past was to change the berth of the schools and parents. While expanding, such a challenge can also be felt in other countries as well.OpportunitiesThe opportunities for the company hav e already been determine by one of the co-founders, Kendall Flutey. She has noted that the opportunities lie in expanding the services on a global scale starting with Australia and moving on to the United States. She has also noted that since United States place emphasis on financial based learning, it would be profitable for the business to consider expanding there (Robson, 2016). While finding investors can be an issue while expanding, crowd-funding might also be looked into as a possible source of investment and finding the right of investors who are as motivated on making education convenient rather than making profits.ThreatsThe biggest threat is possibly the over-dependence on the online medium as with the various technological advances, there are several slipway, nowadays, in which hackers might interrupt and pose problems for the company and the novelty which had made it successful in the first place. The novelty that has worked for Banqer can also change quickly as more c ompanies see the profit generating capabilities and develop their own versions and certainly with technological advances, there might be better options as well.StrengthsWeaknessesOpportunitiesThreatsFocus on bridging the gap.Valuable partnershipsEarning credibility through word-of mouthLack of diversification in the product range.Getting like-minded investors.Different approach to education can prove to be problematicExpansionCrowd-funding.Over-dependence on the online mediumTechnological advancesReplication by other companies. With the considerable advances in the technological aspects and the ways in which communication is being impacted all over the world, it would be particularly relevant for the company to administer certain changes and develop modules that are more student specific. One of the new-made developments that have been made is the CV writing and application process that the company is providing within simulated environments (McNicol, 2016). What is really interestin g to note in this regard is the emphasis on student-teacher interaction which is the value of this innovation to the organization. However, the modules and the courses can be noted to be developed on a panoptic level, and probably it would be hugely beneficial if specific modules are created keeping in mind the specific abilities and needs of the students.Another important aspect has been the developments in the curriculum innovation that is changing the education on global levels. What had been considered to be the most important subjects in school are now being regarded as auxiliary to the main subjects. So, it would be a naturally evolutionary process to incorporate the various developments that are being made all around the world in order to stay updated with the recent developments. The most effective strategy to motivate the innovation would be to develop a basic plan that is flexile in order to incorporate the changes that are being made on a daily basis. In this context, it can be recommended that the company regularly post up meetings with the schools and the educational experts in order to gain a more comprehensive knowledge about the developments that are being made on a global scale. Also, in order to incorporate the changes that are required to be made in terms of providing personal assistance, it would probably be recommended to set up one-to-one sessions with the students in order to understand their personal lacks and how those can be overcome through effective sessions. The task might be tedious at first, but the whole process can be streamlined if teachers are integrated within the system and involved.Banqer has been one of the most efficient online programs in the recent past that has sought to redefine financial literacy for the students. It has been successful in the New Zealand market and hopes to expand. However, the threats of replication can be major problem. In this regard, the company can start innovating and customize their modules to suit the needs of the students.
