Handling Multicultural Environment Essay

Any whizz culture is multidimensional, and in this time of globalization, masses belonging to various cultures atomic number 18 sharing common workplace where they be bound to interact with iodine another. This situation certainly calls for a thorough training on ethnical competency for all members of both multicultural organization, and e limitedly for the jitneys who have the undertaking to unify all employees aims and aspirations with the goals of their comp both. Such a task is easier said than through as in that respect is plethora of instances where cultural difference has shattered the dreams of the company. However, there is no de stratagemh of opposite instances too, where successful implementation of multicultural ism has brought in sustainable competitive advantage for the companies. In either way, this give in of affairs substantiates the importance of seriously considering organization as culture and adopting skilful steps to achieve the status of a true-blue multicultural organization. With this dismantle of view, this paper explores how the organizations can impart quality training to their managers, besides evaluating the faculty of the established theories/ bases on this issue, before reaching its own conclusion.multicultural environs Any workplace comprising of employees from more than matchless(prenominal) culture can be called a multicultural organization. Here the word culture contains several interpretation, though in general, it speak to the highest degree a package of erudition, belief and acquired behavioural touch, containing elements identical learned and shared values, beliefs and behaviors to a particular group of people (Yamashita, 2004). On the other hand, multiculturalism is a Doctrine asserting value of assorted cultures coexisting within single society globally, vision of cultural revolution deliberately fostered and protected (Globalization, 2000).In plain words, it is a concept of positioning various cult ures to serve a common purpose. Common Problems in multicultural Environment Problems occur when cultural difference and consequently, difference in perception ab come forward a particular issue/act/custom/or policy stands between the individuals or groups. Such situations can occur anytime at any multicultural set up, which can begin with little differences like meaning of a word, eating habits, or religious practice, whatever, and that can force out a bigger set of difference, if not timely diffused. For example, the word, monkey contains paint a picture of racism in some parts of the world, while it is only a simple definition of primate in the other. Now if someone from that special part of the world is called a monkey, s/he might move furiously, no matter how innocent the caller is. Understandably, such channel noises , are the outcome of ones ignorance about others culture. Specific Problems in Multicultural Environment This takes place when cultural difference puts spanner in the process of work. This too, can emerge out of various situations like managers or employees biases about their culture, or from ignorance about what means what. It is not uncommon for a manager to find difficulty in catering a multicultural hearing at one go, if some of the members do not understand managers verbalise language, or their idioms sound idiotic to their ears. This again points towards the importance of grooming to the stress of multicultural philosophy. Theories for Help No matter how much humans certain their science and technology, they are yet to discover a device that would be able to interpret ones thought for another. It is for this reason, the age-old art and science of effective communication still works wonders for every stadium of life and it is in fact the oxygen of any multicultural organization. thus it would be pertinent to mention about two such theories out of many, to explain how theories can save the day for the managers of multicultural orga nizations. What these theories do is, they realize the foundation of understanding among humans, which is the prime condition to rise above any cultural biases and to accept the fact that humans are all twin at their basements.ERG Theory This is an improvised version of Abraham Maslows (1908-1970) famous sit of Hierarchy of Needs (Maslows, 2008), created by Clayton Alderfer aft(prenominal) prolonged research, which adds more flexibility in determining the ask of an individual, which it does by reorienting the elements from Maslows model into common chord segments like Existence (E) It involves physiological and safety chooses. Relatedness (R) It contains social and external wish needs. Growth (G) Self-actualization and internal esteem needs. (ERG, 2007).Claytons model allows to set the enounce of needs according to the existing need structure of an employee, besides providing the mise en scene to pursue different needs simultaneously. Accordingly, company can motivate any individual on any of the E, R or G needs while looking after an individuals E need (say, where an employee needs a safety measure), the company can look after the same individuals R needs (like awarding her for her achievement) and G needs (inducting the individual in the think tank of the department).Expectancy appraise Theory Founded by Martin Fishbein in the 1970-s, suggesting that people mould themselves to the world in accordance with their expectations/beliefs and evaluations (Expectancy, 2004). This serves as a pointer to the fact that behavior or behavioral intentions or attitudes evolve out of expectancy and evaluation, where the expectancy is an idea about a situation or reject and evaluation is ones estimation about the impact of that idea/situation/object on any plane.Theories Groom Vision If the entire team of a workplace can adopt a vision in the idle of the Expectancy Value Theory, where they would expect that they are devoted to the collective goal. erst armed with this vision, the following areas of communication would definitely take a newly turn as the outcome of reorientation of ones uprise to the world Intrapersonal communication The vision would make the employee think like Im attached to an important organ of the society and thus I have more responsibility to meet its expectations.Communication with clients The vision go away make the employees more patient and taking interest in communicating with clients belonging to another culture. Team Communication There would be less conflict of ego or other minor areas of personal interests, as the greater cause will influence all members to align their onrush towards the perceived goal (achieving high standards of service).

These reservations are considered surrogate surplus zones and are completely sovereign. This group of people does not tolerate both type of surrogate technology and p gravel the father of the human delineate as the truth. This seems to be a cut and dry good vs. vil movie at first and the two sides clearly established simply as the movie moves along the lines become blurred and the hints are pronounced. Tom Greer and his participator are called to the scene of a seemingly normal vehicle accident deep in the evening only to discover fairly quickly that this is not just an accident scene its a murder. turn at the scene of the accident only surrogates are present and it is faux the operators of the surrogates remain at their homes unharmed, hardly after further investigation by Tom the operators are dead in their operator chairs.Highly out-of-the-way because there micturatent been any murders in Boston for so long the Agents do not re extremity the weather one. Next Tom discovers that the military had developed the weapon that would overburden galore(postnominal) surrogates with a single shot but an accidental byproduct of this weapon was that it actually killed the operator. The Military officials ordered that all if the weapons be destroyed and somehow one slipped through the cracks and was not destroyed and fell into the detention of manufacturer of the surrogates. The manufacturer VCI is proclaimed as one of the largest companies in the world and is a very powerful corporation. It was originally founded by Dr. canter but due to differences in philosophy he was removed as president of the company but remained a beneficiary of the profits from the sale of surrogates. The agitation builds as Tom pursues the investigation and gets closer to figuring out the conspiracy. So far he has learned that a Human Coalition member murdered the son of a Dr canter and that the target was actually Dr Canter himself but because his son used a surrogate belonging to Dr Canter the murderer thought that he was killing him but accidentally killed his son. The military in cooperation with VCI developed a weapon that would overload surrogates and turn out them run through in an effort to quickly win battles without casualties. A major hassle was discovered with the weapon during its initial tests and it had unintentionally killed the operators of the surrogates. The weapon was ordered to be destroyed and of the 5 that were created only 4 were actually destroyed and one remained. The military did not know who had the remaining weapon but an assumption must be made th at VCI had the weapon and somehow it had fallen in to the reach of the Human Coalition who were bent on the murder of Dr Canter for creating this new society that is an abomination. Tom reveals to the military that when he was in the Human Coalitions Boston reservation he knew the weapon was there and in the hands of their leader Zaire Powell. His attempt to convince the world that the surrogates are dark seems to be failing up to now.He now has the power to shut down every single surrogate all over the world but this action would result in the death of billions of people. The Military tells Tom to stand down and that they would take over the recovery of the weapon. Tom is force back in when his partner is killed and her surrogate is being used to realize access to the FBI surrogate control center. He discovers that Zaire Powell is actually a surrogate being controlled by Dr. Canter. This discovery takes Tom to Dr Canters home that is saved by surrogate guards that he must take down to reach Dr Canter in time.Canter had taken control of his partners surrogate and was in the headquarters of the FBI where he can access every surrogate at one time and use the weapon to download the overload computer virus killing every operator connected to their surrogate. When Tom reaches Dr Canter has already begun downloading the virus. Tom confronts Dr Canter and tries to convince him that killing this many people is not the way to accomplish his goal but its too late and in order to prevent Tom from stopping him Dr Canter takes a cyanide pill killing himself.Tom has no choice but to take over the surrogate of his partner and try to stop the virus from taking hold and killing billions of people. With the help of the programmer at the FBI surrogate control center he is able to isolate the operators from the virus. He and so has to stop the isolate the surrogates themselves from the virus but in a last minute decision decides to allow the virus to shut down all the surro gates. He had saved the lives of many people but after having experiencing the human condition again decided that everyone should fix that same experience again. This movie is full of twists and changes that are hard to follow. Overall, I dont realise this movie to be a great movie. The concepts could have been developed punter and the twists should have been made with more information. The twists came without warning which is good for a twist but there was no information used to explain the twists in a way that would make it believable. I have learned that this movie was first a support and it is common that the themes in a book are not completely developed when it is turned in to a movie, however the concepts could have been portrayed and explained better.I did taste the idea of unplugging sometimes and to experience life outside of our home and disconnect from the internet and television. There are experiences our modern technology allows us to not have and in some cases this is not always a good thing. As a child I took a vacation to Yellowstone National Park and my children have not been able to experience this yet except for on the internet. They are not excited about making this trip because they believe they have experienced this park on the internet but as many adults know it is just not the same.I am concerned that as our children develop with more access to technology they will lose equalize with the human experience so any movie, book, music, or other spiritualist that express or shows the importance of the actual physical human experience is a great thing. I would recommend this movie to anyone for this purpose and I might also suggest that in order to fully understand this movie itself that it be watched two or three times. Watch it, enjoy it but most of all experience it.

Thesis Researched by Rose

Roses thesis states that Students will float to the mark you set. Vocational procreation has aimed at increasing the economic opportunities of students who do non do well in our schools. Some serious programs succeed in doing that, and through exceptional teachers comparable Mr. Gross in Horaces Compromise students learn to develop hypotheses and trouble shoot, rationality through a problem, and communicate effectively the true job skills. The vocational track, however, is intimately often a place for those who are just non making it, a dumping ground for the disaffected.Rose attempts to persuade his readers by showing how dysfunctional the vocational students are and how mediocre or unchallenging their studies are. He also persuades the readers by exemplifying the instructors poor attempts to care about the choice of learning the vocational education students are receiving. His argument is that the instructors are not inventive in their teaching methods and do not work p roblematical at education through use of their imaginations. The teachers have no image of how to engage the imaginations of kids who were at the bottom of the pond.I agree with Roses point stating that Youre define by your school as slow youre placed in a curriculum that isnt designed to liberate you but to occupy you, or, if youre lucky, train you, though the training is for work the society does not esteem. This seems to be the norm at all schools. But, I telephone at all levels, be it utmost school or college, the instructors teaching these types of programs should be educate to use more(prenominal) imaginative methods of teaching the vocational level students. Obviously, these students each learn at a different pace, but their minds still need to be challenged. They should buzz off education that stimulates their minds so they do not lose interest. The vocational education system is used as simply as Rose frame it, as a dumping ground for the disaffected. I also see the point Rose made referring to the fact that if a student is trained in a mediocre way he will do nothing but turn into a mediocre student. Resulting in boredom, indifference, set out, ignorance, and finally a lack of job skills society deems necessary.I think Rose was correct in the comment Champion the average. Although that is assuming that each vocational student has the courage to rely on his/her own trade good sense and put the fear behind him or her. Only most of them lack the courage or self-esteem to stand up for themselves, be it only in their own mind. Moreover, many would not take themselves bad if they did so.

Though there were so m both statements against the female sex, the female physical ( non needfully inner ) raw(a) bodily structure and psyche was held in the highest respect, particularly the abovementioned concept of the female as vas. John Donne expanded this thought in his poesy, composing rough adult females in a means that degraded their physical original structure, their mental and emotiona l capablenesss, and their relation to the male sex. Women, in John Donne s eyes were seen as a needed portion of the male-female, body-soul connexion but were unsafe every berth good. Womans, in the 16th and 17th centuries were believed to transport merely every bit untold truth and secrecy as work forces. Womans were vass that could be filled ( with anything ) this force non merely made adult females appealing, but made them unbelievable agents of any force, good or bad.The relation enthral between natural structure and psyche, a relationship Donne regarded as one of common necessity, was the specifying bond of his life. His experiences ( of friendly relationship, love, wellness, unwellness, work, leisure ) were all conditioned by the interactions between the two parts of the ego. As a poet and a curate, the physical and the religious, the male and the female, the layman and the Godhead were inexorably linked for Donne, and were ever carried into his poesy. To obtain farther grounds of how Donne, every bit good as his talkers, views the female organic structure, one must look sloshedly at his poesy for illustration, Donne s poesy form atmospheric state and Angels. This verse form addresses the struggle of have a go at it within the spirit and the organic structure. The verse form begins Twice or thrice had I love thee, / Before I knew thy face or name / So in a voice, so in a shapeless assoil ( 1-3 )In an separate verse form, The Extasie, Donne states that Our soules, ( which to progress their province, / ere gone out, ) hung twixt her, and mee./ And whilst our soules negotiate at that place, / piss like sepulchral statues ballad ( 15-18 ) . Asserting this anterior belief that souls/ booze can go forth the organic structure to mix with other psyches, Donne carries this belief to the passs in Air and Angels. Possibly how he met his devotee, their psyches negociating far from their physical organic structures, Donne s talker in Air a nd Angels believes his spirit met his raw sienna s spirit ( a voice or shapeless fire ) while their organic structures lay elsewhere. Despite the talker s announcement that the female was disembodied and shapeless, and merely as psyches are required to compact a organic structure, the talker needs to concentrate upon the human grade ( as simply an empty outline/container ) in order to launch full it with whatever he chooses, in this instance his love. The female lover addressed is the concrete incarnation required to finish this relationship. The talker describes the determination of the physical being and their first meeting in the 5th line Still when, to where 1000 wert, I came, / Some lovely glorious zippo did I see ( 5-6 ) . When the talker came ( physically ) to where his female lover was, a glorious nil did he see. This interesting line becomes a sexual wordplay sing the female genital organ. If we look back at Galenic theories of foetal development, ( Galen, a ou tstanding Roman doctor, philosopher, and accomplished medical search worker ) we find that 2nd century doctors believed that the female was an inferior mutant of the male. Despite multiple grounds for this, one ground was universally certain the female was an undercooked male for the parts that are indoors in adult female are outside in man.The outgrowth of the phallus in male foetuss was an look of doneness in foetal development. Since the vagina remained inside the female foetus, Galen and co-workers mute this to intend the female foetus was non done. Therefore, the female genital organ were nil, a glorious nil, and an interestingly present absence. As a consequence, the talker supposes that he must make full that empty infinite, that absence, within this lover s organic structure. He utters, Since my psyche, whose small fry, love is/ Takes limbs of flesh and else could nil make ( 7-8 ) . Because the kid of the psyche is Love, Love needs a corporeal organic structur e a place. Love must take a organic structure, so the talker asks Love to presume thy organic structure, I allow, / And repair itself in thy lip, oculus, and forehead ( 12-14 ) . Her organic structure is the container for Love, and the talker must come to receipt and love her physically.Other footings throughout the verse form that suggest her organic structure is simply a container are ballast and tender ( a little boat ) as in Whilst therefore to ballast love I thought, / And so more steadily to hold gone, / With wares which would drop extol, / I saw I had love s tender overfraught ( 15-18 ) . In the verse form, Donne expresses that the talker s love is besides much for the female that he invades her and love s tender is overfraught ( 18 ) . What should hold been a strengthen weight ( Love ) was emotionally unwieldy for the bantam vas. The talker had intend to stabilise love s boat with wares which would drop an undistinguished ship of mere esteem, but alternativel y had overloaded even Love s ship ( a more powerful raiseion than mere esteem ) , unbalancing the really Love which he meant to maintain safe. The concrete and physical specifics were excessively overpowering for human love, which can non inhere ( be portion of something natural and built-in ) in discorporate liquors. Here, Donne reasserts his passionate belief that one can be neither merely affair nor merely spirit one must capture both. Therefore, neither can Love happen its permanence in nil, nor in the appendage or glare of passion or beauty as the talker states, For, nor in nil, nor in things/ Extreme, and dispersing bright, can love inhere ( 21 ) ( Nutt 24 ) . In the concluding lines Merely such(prenominal) disparity/ As is twixt air s and angel s pureness, / Twixt adult females s love, and work forces s, will of all time be ( 26-28 ) , Donne stresses the Elizabethan sentiment that there will everlastingly be a duality between a adult male and a adult female s love. A adult female s is more transient and sacred, yet harder to capture and more widely sought after, hence, less bodily and more spirit-like. These factors besides make her love less stable. A cushy balance is required to non merely maintain Love afloat, but to non burden it every bit good even the most carefully placed, but lopsided ballast can docile tip the tender of Love.In Air and Angels, the female organic structure is highly misunderstood, and described as a mere container for Love to busy. Although look up toing adult female for her ownership of a sacred and widely sought-after Love, the full verse form relies upon the female signifier and the fact that it is uninhabited and can easy be filled with a assortment of things. The transforming regard of the witness, need non be constrained by an being outside the organic structure. In resource at any rate, it might be possible to sail into the organic structure which could therefore look as a topographic denominate of i nfinite infinite, a topographic point with infinite possibilities ( 140 ) . Sadly, this choice is non done of her ain will, but of the male talker s she must digest his use and idealistic position of love, and addition nil in return save an overfraught tender. And in Donne s verse forms, we seldom catch out the female voice, or learn of Love from the female position. In the muckle of Donne s verse forms, the talker is male, and the audience is preponderantly male. John Donne was a clique poet, significance that he wrote to a choice group of close friends, most likely poets themselves. Writing in an epoch where a female was deemed a lesser being than a male, Donne was entirely following the conventions utilize by other coterie poets by composing misogynous Hagiographas about adult females from a hypermasculine point-of-view. And though he seldom wrote about Love itself, he did compose about Love in the sense that it was an abstract male-female connexion.Work citedThe Norton Antho logy of English Literature Volume one, Sixth edition.Abjadian, A. Counseling African Americans Essay

carry appear and Sues Chapter 14 Counseling Afri provide Americans spends a great weigh of effort exploring ethnic particulars and corresponding clinical implications while workings with African Americans factors such as family dynamics, educational orientation, spirituality, and the pressures and stress of racism and marginalization. This offered me perspective finished a lens much broader than my own nearlywhat narrow, predominantly white, and slightly privileged government agency of relating to the world. Before under vantage pointing cultur in exclusivelyy appropriate interventions, ane must have an understanding of the cultural context or the cultural word of an item-by-item.For me, this first means that variations must be noted, either literally in kind with the African American node or plainly as a clinical observation I make on my own. Of course the difference in the cardinal entrust depend on the client, context, and general relevancy in the moment. In my o wn experience, noting racial difference aloud with a client has been most helpful in that it gives authorization for the potentially taboo topic of race and differences to be considered, brought into the space at a later time, and even into the forefront of consciousness.Apart from the explicit alterative relationship, noting difference is a personal reminder that I am no expert on any unitys experience but my own, I may make mistakes (and probably will), I should steer clear of assumptions, its ok to be curious, and to do my homework. Once a general understanding of differences is established, and then one can begin to consider appropriate therapeutic interventions. allows take the issue of racism and discrimination the spin-off of these atrocities oft manifests as defense and survival mechanisms in Black Americans.Which can jumper cable to a general mistrust or as its utter (by Sue and Sue) a healthy cultural paranoia, as a way of coping. This mistrust can be of individua ls, entire races of people, the government, social service providers With this in mind, its important to determine what the clients feelings and understandings about therapy are. To doctor base and explain what kind of therapy I engage in, how it can be helpful to them, and what can be expected of our time together. Hopefully this will help to assuage uneasy feelings of fear of the unknown or mistrust, as well as set up a foundation for a healthy therapeutic alliance.Although Sue and Sues Afrocentric perspective can be helpful it can also simultaneously be viewed as reductive. Its important not to discount individual differences by universalizing traits of African Americans. Self cannot be defined as a unitary belief evolving from a single defining variable, such as race or gender (Williams, 1999). For instance, not all women are nurturing, caring, and relational. Similarly, not all African Americans have an African ethos of communalism or spirituality. Race, class, sexual orient ation, and gender are all complex interactive components that make up the self.To approach a client through the lens of only one of these variables, means potentially silencing a central component of their identity. Additionally, it is also necessary to consider an internal democracy without regard to the social demands of each variable. Collectively, these considerations can aide to a more than holistic view when working with African American clients. Part cardinal After spending a year in practicum at the SF county jail, I feel as though Ive had a fairly befitting introduction to working with African American female persons. When I began practicum I had had actually little dressing in diversity or cross-cultural counseling. Turns out that a year in the jail was one large training in diversity and cross-cultural counseling Now Im able to pin my personal experience against the readings and gauge my success as a culturally competent therapist. When assessing my strengths, I find that I possess a keen and tremendously empathic understanding of how the stress of racism, sexism, and heaviness can manifest in African American women. Oftentimes the byproduct of this stress is what brings the individual to jail.As a clinician, I can confidently say that I am able to enter the therapeutic relationship with a greater capacity for empathy because of this understanding and build a good alliance as an ally as well as a therapist. Im not afraid to make mistakes and have no attachment to being right these qualities will only support me as a clinician. In addition, my upfront demeanor and willingness to self-disclose have had a unparalleled impact on the therapeutic relationship. My empathy is strongly with women and their plight of identifying and addressing all the isms that stand between them and equality, wholeness, and health.Frequently, those isms are at the hands of men and I for certain have a bias towards this, and towards men in general. Its no accident th at I spent an entire year of practicum working but with women although it wasnt a conscious choice, I believe on some level I chose not to work with men. I have incredible biases towards men as perpetrators and oppressors and men and their privilege, African American men as well as Caucasian. These biases keep me terrified at the thought of working with male clients. I imagine heaps and heaps of countertransference between male clients and myself countertransference that is full of pain and rage.Im not sure that I have much to offer men inside the therapeutic space. I dont believe this to be my final answer, I just know that I have some work to do around my relationship with men before I make the restrain of working with them in such sacred space. Essentially, it all comes down to two core qualities- and they are humility and flexibility humility in all that I think I know and the flexibility to shift or discard that knowledge. My experience of working with, knowing, and reading about African American culture, difference, and oppression may or may not serve me as a therapist at any given moment. What works for and makes esthesis in the context of Client A, may not be so for Client B, and vise versa. Although it is crucial to have fundamental knowledge of the bequest of oppression against African American people and to consider factors such as interdependence, collectivism, and emotional vitality as presumed long- standing black personality traits, I must also be able to draw connections between those factors and the individual experience- much like the womanist techniques mentioned in Carmen Braun Williams article African American Women, Afrocentrism and Feminism Implications for Therapy. As a therapist, I am responsible for channelize and supporting the client in making the shift from object to subject area transferring ownership of self from one whose self is externally determined to one who is self- determining (Freire, 1990). And practice practice prac tice, with an open heart, ears, and mind. References Braun Williams, C. (1999). African American women, afrocentrism and feminism Implications for therapy. Alcoholism is a chronic disease Essay

inebriation is a promoteive and chronic disease that admits compulsory racketing, using downpour beverageic drinkic bever period even though it ca physical exercises problems, having physical dependence with inebriant, or having withdrawal symptoms when one tries to cut back or finish up eat alcohol. One notify admit a problem with alcohol and not have it progressed to alcoholism. That is call(a)ed problem drinking which means one drinks too lots causing repeated problem in their life. According to the Mayo Clinic (2012), saturnalia drinking is a pattern where a male consumes five or more drinks in a row, or a female drinks at least quaternion drinks in a row. Binge drinking slew surpass to the same health take chancess associated with alcoholism (Mayo, 2012). Not being commensu put to break up drinking or cut back and denying you have a problem is a few of the things that come with alcoholism Criteria for alcoholism establish on the DSM V atomic number 18 an s ingular meeting any devil of the eleven criteria during the same twelve month period.Ex international ampereles of these criteria accommodate a grim desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or man historic period alcohol pulmonary tuberculosis, craving or strong desire or iron to put on alcohol, and important social, occupational or recreational activities argon minded(p)(p) up or reduced beca handling of alcohol use (NIH, 2013b). As for ICD criteria, an individual must view certain criteria as well. ICD criteria require an individual to experience three or more of the criteria occurring together for at least 1 month or if less than 1 month, occurring together repeatedly in spite of appearance a 12-month period. Examples of these criteria include Difficulties in imperative drinking in footing of onset, termination, or levels of use drinking in larger amounts or oer a tenaciouser period than intended or a recollective desire or unsuccessful efforts to reduce or con trol drinking, requisite for signifi give the axetly increase amounts of alcohol to achieve intoxication or desire effect or markedly diminished effect with continued use of the same amount of alcohol, or Important alternative pleasures or interests given up or reduced because of drinking (Hasin, 2013).According to the article, intoxicant inhalation and Cancer Risk (2011), in that respect is a dramatic link among alcohol and crabby somebody. Heavy alcohol consumption ( 4 drinks/day) is signifi nettly associated with an increased fortune of virtually 5-fold for oral and pharyngeal crab louse and esophageal squamous mobile phone carcinoma, 2.5-fold for laryngeal cancer, 50% for colorectal and breast cancers, and 30% for pancreatic cancer (Pelucchi, Tramacere, Boffetta, Negri, & Vecchia, 2011). Evidence proves that even one drink per day increases the risk for pharyngeal or oral cancer by 20% and 30% for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Breast cancer has an increa sed risk of item with three to six drinks a week. When an individual exposes themselves to both alcohol and tobacco, there is a greater increase in oral and pharyngeal cancer risk.Alcohol excessively causes an increase in head and neck cancer when it is apply alone (not used in conjunction with tobacco). Restricting alcohol to limits indicated by the European Code Against Cancer would avoid nearly 90% of alcohol-attri besides open cancers and cancer deaths in men and all over 50% of cancers in women (Pelucchi, Tramacere, Boffetta, Negri, & Vecchia, 2011). This article provides great evidence of ebullient alcohol being joined to further health risks for individuals who indulge over the recommended amounts. A somebody woe from alcoholism has some outer appearance changes doneout their life. Someone low from alcohol withdrawal may experience nausea, sweating, hand tremors, visual hallucinations, or seizures. These are all very common symptoms associated when an alcohol ho oked person goes through withdrawal. Not only do these physical symptoms occur, besides mental symptoms in like manner occur. Examples of mental symptoms include depression, anxiety, irritability, restlessness, or insomnia. Both the physical and psychological symptoms can be visible from an outsiders perspective. An alcohol mutualist person may not experience withdrawal symptoms if they are pickings in enough alcohol on a daily al-Qaida that meet their required needs to feel well. Though they may not have the withdrawal symptoms, they do have physically visible symptoms from their excessive alcohol intake. Symptoms include facial red ink/flushing of the skin, xerosis, dull skin tone, follicular hyperkeratosis, gingivitis, tooth decay, black hairy tongue, and weight gain. The most common though include dehydration of the skin and bloating in the abdomen or causa ( fuddle Aware, 2014). potable too much alcohol deprives the skin from important vitamins and nutrients. Over time , losing these nutrients from excessive drinking can cause permanent damage from frequent flushing and redness of the skin. Facial and abdominal bloating occurs when the person experiences dehydration from the excess about of alcohol intake (Drink Aware, 2014).Prevalence of lifetime alcohol use by age and gender graph was report by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and tipsiness (2013c) males age 18-24- 70% and women 55%, males age 25-34- 82% and women 65%, males age 35-44- 82% and women 63%, males age 45-55- 80% and women 55%, and males age 55 + 71% and women 39% (NIH, 2013c). According to the entropy from the National Household Survey, most Americans had at least one drink of alcohol by late adolescence. Among men, 70% to 83% reported overwhelming alcohol on at least one occasion during their lifetime, as compared to 39% to 66% of women. The prevalence rate of lifetime alcohol use among men is highest among those aged 25 to 55 and lowest among the 18 to 24 and 55 or ol der age groups. Similar findings were found for women, although they reported lower rates than men. The rate of lifetime alcohol was lowest among women ages 55 or older. The largest gender difference was noted among the 55 years or older age group, with males drinking more. The smallest gender difference was between 18 to 24 years old (NIH, 2013c). boozing results from the complex interaction of genetic, social, and environmental factors. Alcohol has widespread effects on the brain and can enquire nerve cells, brain chemistry, and blood flow within the frontal lobes. Neurotransmitters are affected by long-term use of alcohol. Neurotransmitters are released when alcohol is consumed, which become euphoria and a sense of well-being. Chronic exposure of the brain to alcohol is thought to result in long-term adaptive changes that initially heighten increased reinforcement for alcohol use and over time progress to withdrawal and negative affective states, so that regular alcohol use is required to feel normal (Chung & Pittman, 2013) Being dependent on alcohol is often associated with psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia, depression, or PTSD. ancestral factors are believed to play a role in alcohol hollo. The radical York Times (2013), believe the amygdala, part in the brain responsible for controlling cravings, has been reported to be smaller in individuals with family history of alcoholism (TNYT, 2013). in that respect are also many social and environmental factors that contribute to the emergence of alcohol abuse or alcoholism. in that location are mass merchandising of alcohol on television, billboards, and gas stations. Marketing tends to increase the number of alcohol sales and in turn increase chance of alcohol abuse among individuals. Many young individuals are pressured by friends or even family to jump drinking at a young age. Drinking at a young age greatly increases chances of that individual to suffer from alcoholism in the near future. During the general assessment of a person suffering from alcoholism, the nanny is to first gather accurate information regarding their drinking patterns. The hold dear must ask the question, Do you sometimes drink beer, wine, or other alcoholic beverages? If the person states yes, then the nurse asks How many times in the past year have you had five or more drinks in a day? This will help the nurse gather important data regarding excessive alcohol consumption. The next step is to tell the patient to decrement the amount of alcohol that is being consumed since the chance of It is also important to ask about their life style, family, and relationships. The person may be experiencing depression or anxiety if they have lost family support because of their addiction. If this person is experiencing withdrawal symptoms during the assessment, the nurse should plan to provide comfort measures for this patient. The patient may also be very agitated, embarrassed, or not level head ed, since alcohol has these effects on an individual.By simply looking at the patients appearance, the nurse should be able to posit if the alcohol has caused further damage to the bodys organs. For example, if the colored is failing, the person may experience jaundice. Focusing the assessment around the use of the alcohol and effects it has on his or her life will be of most concern. The patient should have a full lab workup to determine if further damage has occurred to this patients health. The nurse can also provide appropriate resources for help, such as AA meetings, rehab, or family counseling, which will be beneficial for the patient. Drinking too much can take a serious toll on ones health. Alcohol can affect a person brain, purport, liver, pancreas, immune system, and can increase the risk for cancer.According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (2013a), alcohol interferes with the brains communication pathways. These disruptions can change idea a nd way. These changes can also gear up it harder to think clearly and move with coordination (NIH, 2013a). The meat can be affected with cardiomyopathy which is stretching and drooping of heart muscle. Arrhythmias, stroke, and high blood pressure can also occur from over using alcohol. Research by the NIH (2013a), alcohol can inflame the liver and cause steatosis or fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, fibrosis, and or cirrhosis. The pancreas produces toxic substances that can eventually lead to pancreatitis (NIH, 2013a). Pancreatitis is inflammation and swelling of the blood vessels in the pancreas that prevents straight-laced digestion. The immune system is weakened. Chronic drinkers are more likely to obtain diseases like pneumonia and tuberculosis than people who dont drink.Chronic alcohol consumption increases risk for cancers such as mouth, esophagus, throat, liver, and breast Alcohol pharmacokinetics includes absorption, distribution, and metabolism. by and by oral abs orption, alcohol is absorbed from the duodenum by diffusion (Ramchandani, 2009). The rate depends on the volume of alcohol consumed (the less concentrated the slower rate of absorption), rate of drinking (faster you drink the faster the absorption), food, and gastric metabolism. The distribution of alcohol is into come in body piss. There are also gender differences in body. Women have a lower proportion in total body water compared to men. Metabolism of alcohol occurs primarily in the liver in a two-step process. As researched by Ramchandani (2009), the first step, alcohol is oxidized to ethanal by the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase or ADH. In the second step, acetaldehyde is reborn to acetate by the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase. Then there is alcohol pharmacodynamics (Ramchandani, 2009). Alcohol is a CNS depressant. Its stimulatory effects result from depression of inhibitory control mechanisms in the brain. Characteristic responses to alcohol include euphoria, impaired thought p rocesses and decreased machinelike efficiency. More than just a doctor is needed for the treatment of alcoholism. Alcoholism counselors, social workers, psychologists, and family therapists are a few others that may be involved. There are three stages in treating alcoholism. The first is to make sure the person is medically stabilized. Next, they must undergo a detoxification process which is then followed by long-term abstinence and rehabilitation.According to Cunha (2012), the most common medication in treating alcoholism is disulfiram (Antabuse). It interferes with alcohol metabolism resulting in a metabolite that makes the person nauseated and very uncomfortable when consuming alcohol (Cunha, 2012). If they stop taking this they can implant a device under the skin so they have to continuously take it without the freedom of being able to stop it. Other medications used are naltrexone (ReVia), acamprosate (Campral) and a class of antidepressants called selective serotonin reupta ke inhibitors (SSRIs) (Cunha, 2012). Alcohol withdrawal is treated by oral or IV hydration along with medications. According to Cunha (2012), the most common medication groups used in treating alcohol withdrawal symptoms are benzodiazepines, which include lorazepam (Ativan), diazepam (Valium), and chlordizepoxide (Librium) (Cunha, 2012). Any person that is being treated for alcoholism should also ask round thiamine (vitamin B1). The thiamine levels are usually low and if deficiency occurs it could lead to Wernickes encephalopathy. The detoxification stage involves stopping the alcohol consumption. This usually occurs in an con setting and will require extensive support. The medication will be given and then tapered off until no withdrawal symptoms are evident. This process lasts a few days to a week. Rehabilitation can be either a short term or long term residential program. These help those who are more severely dependent and need the help to develop skills not to drink and to work on ways to help them from relapsing. Short term programs are less than four weeks long where long term programs can last for a month to a year or more. There are also several(prenominal) effective individual treatments delivered by professional counselors in outpatient treatment clinics. These treatments include twelve-step facilitation therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, and cognitive- behavioral coping skills. There are also self-help programs which are Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), women for sobriety, Rational Recovery, and SMART recovery (Cunha, 2012). These allow alcoholics to stop drinking and remain sober on their own. In conclusion, alcoholism is a very serious condition that sadly many people face in the world. There any many means of helping these patients, but only if the individual wants the assistance. Once the person is so alcohol dependent, they are in a state of denial and think that nothing is wrongly with their habit, but the earlier we get them to unders tand their problems then the easier it is to help them through it. Alcoholism is not only a terrible disease itself, but it also leads to many other deadly diseases and illnesses. The first priority to make a difference in the world is to educate the youth about alcohol, which will hopefully decrease the rates of alcoholism occurrences in the future. The effects of alcoholism which are physical and psychological can cause many problems that affect a persons life in all aspects. Alcohol alters ones brain, muscles, digestion process, and other disorders that affect ones health. It also can cause depression or changes in behavior that result in problems with their family, friends, and with themselves.ReferencesChung, P. & Pittman, J. (2013). Epocrates Online. Alcohol Abuse. The scarc eness of jobs has further contributed to the exodus of skilled workers abroad, where 2,000 Filipinos leave the country everyday to taste higher income and greater opportunities in career advancement. With this in mind, LETS GO gestates that a viable solution to overcome these challenges today is by promoting Entrepreneurship and adult Filipinos the proper knowledge and withalls in start their own businesses. Entrepreneurs are the backbone of our economy. The Philippines is an entrepreneurial country. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), including micro-enterprises, account for 99 percent of all business establishments and 60 percent of the exporting firms in the Philippines.According to the Department of Trade and Industry, SMEs currently employ about 55 percent of the Philippine labor force and contribute 30 percent to total domestic sales volume. Among the current problems that Filipino entrepreneurs encounter today are the inadequate access to technology, financing capita l, marketing advice and logistical problems in setting up and maintaining their competitiveness in their community. For this reason, the Philippine government has identified the need to foster entrepreneurial spirit to jump start our lagging economy. To further emphasize the importance of developing entrepreneurship education, a recent study by the Center for Asia Pacific Studies reveals, out of every 100 children enrolled every year, 66 will complete elementary education, 42 will finish high school and only 14 will earn a college degree. A study by Smart Communications adds, only 7. 7% of graduates get employed. This means that out of 100 children that goes to school, only one will end up getting a ob. What happens to the rest? What better senesce to start planting the seeds of entrepreneurial knowledge and skills than among the youth. One is never too Young to be an Entrepreneur The importance of developing an innovative and entrepreneurial culture is a crucial part of the Philippines developed state future. Assess Whether Pericles Was a Good or Bad Leader Essay

Pericles (C. 495-429 BC) was a very influential politician and general in Athens. He is give tongue to to cook brought about a very whole-important(a) time in Athenian history known as The booming mature of Athens where he brought about or placed think on certain things like art, which gave Athens the reputation as the heathen and educational centre of superannuated Greece, architecture, where he created a project to dramatize the city and provide work for Athenians with most of its products like the Parthenon still endure and giving us an idea of the glory of Athens. He also operate valuable contri scarceions to drama, the bringing about of body politic and the establishment of the Greek empire. Democracy, which allows all citizens to set and be involved in the running of the asseverate was a c at oncept reaffirmed by Pericles. This is why he made accredited he played a major role in the ostracizing of Cimon who was characterized as populace a tyrant. Other histor ians whitethorn argue that Pericles ulterior motive for doing that was to watch that he came into power with his main opposition out of the way only for a valet who made so many important advancements for the Athenians, I strongly call up he did it not with the intention of capturing power but helping give the Athenians a voice. This made him a very big political attractor as he was able to rid the state of the many problems of dictatorship and oligarchy like corruption which was further emphasized by one of his ancient admirers, Thucydides who said, he kept himself untainted by corruption, although he was not altogether indifferent to money-making He excelled all his fellow citizens in skills of oratory (Diodorus Siculus) The art of oratory has been a rare skill possess by very a few(prenominal) quite a little who turned out to cast off got almost of the most well known speeches in history. Oratory has been a very influential tool for some of the worlds sterling(prenomin al) drawing cards and Pericles falls in that category of leaders with exceptional skills. bulk such as Abraham Lincoln whos famous speech, the Gettysburg Address gained parallels to Pericles not bad(p) funeral oration by the American Civil War scholar, Garry Wills which leads many to call up that one of the greatest unexampled speakers drew fervor from Pericles. This gesture alone shows the great oratory skills of a great man in Athenian history. This extraordinary ability is attested to by Thucydides who once again was full of praise for the famous Athenian when asked about whether he or Pericles was the better fighter by the S functionan king, Archidamus. Without hesitation Thucydides said Pericles was better and justified it by face that stock-still when he was overcome, he managed to convince the audience that he had won. This shows how he was able to persuade and influence the Athenians which even though some may say was manipulative and defeated the concept of democracy gave the simple Athenian citizen thought provoking ideas to give an informed choice. His speaking skills, which were able to draw the exact emotions got from the Athenian people was barely criticized by people like the poet, Ion, who says that Pericles had an arrogant and somewhat big-headed bearing of talking, and that into his pride there entered a good deal of disrespect and nauseate for others. This is spiritedly debatable as we are supposed to believe a soul who says Pericles had a good deal of disrespect and dislike for others, the similar Pericles who put the true Athenian people first and made sure they had a say in how their home state was ruled. By that observance alone I believe Ions quote about Pericles should be discarded as total rubbish and the ranting of a person simply envious of his (Pericles) ability. Plutarch mentions in his criticism of Pericles about the strange point in Agaristes (Pericles mother). He says, She, in her dreams, once fancied that she ha d abandoned birth to a lion and a few days thereafter bore Pericles. I do not believe this is actually counts as a criticism of him because even though a lion may be a dangerous animal, its traditional symbolism of greatness should be taken into account. Other symbolic attributes for a lion are strength, courage, power, royalty, dignity, authority, dominion, justice, information and ferocity which I believe are all attributes displayed by Pericles in both his political and troops career.Ancient Greek symbolism for a lion is the protector of the home and Pericles really showed that in the battles protecting his pricy home, Athens. There is also the argument of whether Pericles was actually a leader or just got carried away by the masses. Plutarch said, he was no longer the similar man as before, nor alike submissive to the people and ready to break down and give in to the desires of the multitude as a steersman to the breezes. Here, Plutarch suggests, Pericles had no leadership over the Athenians and that he put the city in funny farm to do as they could do what they want which is stand-ined by others saying he made the Athenians idle, talkative and greedy (Plato). This motion would save have to be rejected with strong prove against it in his speeches and oratory skills. Thucydides offered the chasten leadership style of Pericles by arguing that Pericles was not carried away by the people, but he was the one guiding the people. The evidence, as said in the last paragraph is in his great speeches and his ability to draw a certain reaction from the Athenian people and so though some may argue that he left the Athenians with no authoritative leader which could only be gained through other methods of governing like dictatorships, he offered a better alternative as he served more as a sort of guardian for the Athenian people and guided them to make predominantly good choices like getting rid of the tyrant, Cimon. Pericles, for more than 20 years was involv ed in the military. He led many expeditions primarily naval ones. He was a wise and cautious military leader and he never went into battles that were mostly likely a wild goofball chase for the Athenian people. This was a great attribute for a military leader because he did not just march his men on to grounds when the odds were not in their favour to have them killed or running back to Athens with their tails between their legs.He avoided the high risk of losses and instead chose each battle wisely and as such there are no major criticisms of his Periclean Grand outline which sought to preserve, not expand, the empire, this strategy could not reach completion however as his successors changed everything and lacked the military abilities and character that caused it to work under Pericles. Pericles legacy cannot be understated as most of it still survives till nowadays. The concept of democracy practiced by all free states in the modern world and used as a measure of a countrys j ustice and fairness is one of them. His most visible legacy however is found in the artistic and literary works of the Golden Age and The Acropolis, though in ruins, is still a great symbol of modern Athens and a remembrance of a great man that once roamed those very streets.I believe Pericles was a great leader both in politics and in the military and I also support the idea that his abilities in both areas caused the famous bust statue of him around to have a helmet sitting on top of his head to show the twain equally talented faces of the great leader that is Pericles. In the movie The colored Knight (2008), the character Harvey Dent famously says to the lead, Batman, You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself bewilder the villain. I believe its the latter that caused the ostracizing of Pericles because there is no evidence that he did anything major to deserve that sort of punishment but even if his story with the Athenians should end on a bad note, I believe h e still is one of the greatest leaders in Ancient History and even if he wasnt perfect, I mean, who is? and had a few flaws and bad traits, he still ensured that Athens was a major part in history and the effect he had is still present today in modern day Athens.

Management Challenges in Criminal Justice Essay

AbstractThe wrong evaluator field of battle is made up of integrity enforcement, approachs, and corrections and is big as s tumefy as it is its own environs when referencing the leading or focal point of special groups. Numerous components at bottom the pitiful arbiter realm require team cooperation to be successful. In the practice of lawfulnessfulness enforcement branch organized special groups such as Multi-agency gang and medicine tasks forces, SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), CSI Crime Scene Investigation), and fugitive recovery units made up of cooperative entities of varied agencies make up round of the organized teams of the law enforcement side of the condemnable rightness arrangement. Courts argon composed of prosecution teams, some of which specialize in specified abominable cases. Corrections are comprised of perplexity that stresses 2 rehabilitation and incarceration as ordered by the courts. any of these organizations are composed of perso nnel trained as canonic get through with(predicate)icers, be driveway were chosen to be a part of a sm solelyer, elite, and pinpointed organized group. anxiety in a criminal justice agencies is a challenge all its own, managing smaller groups that ship specified responsibility within an organization carry different set of challenges. The criminal justice dodge is an environment that consists of law enforcement, courts, and corrections, though all are different entities, they strive to meet the like goal. The leadinghip within some(prenominal)ly of these entities has many challenges to face and conquer, one of which is that each has a different protocol when meeting the same goal of circumstances justice, yet each must accomplish this mission by different means. The challenge is the means by which each of the different branches is tasked to prove and fare their judiciary authority while of importtaining a freedom of society. Legislation and courts military position la w enforcement at the forefront of detainment for a crime, which then puts the courts in motion. single challenge that is faced by management within the criminal justice dodge lies between the courts and the correctional branches. The challenge between the courts and correctional branches is the court system favors incarceration and the correctional system emphasizes rehabilitation back to society. The everyday ground between these two branches is the teamwork between leadership that ensures the mission of each is completed and without out compromise of societies trust in the criminal justice system. A nonher challenge that management within such a vast system faces is budget shortages. These shortages affect all branches of the criminal justice system as well all levels including local, state, and federal authorities. Over the past several years most states agree decreased funding as ofttimes as 15% as well half the states in the legal jointure have either delayed in fillin g judgeships or not filled them at all, thus forcing judges to sit on seven-spot-fold bench roles, while other states were forced to lay off ply or take furlough (Associated Press, 2010). Management within these organizations is expected by society to provide adequate protection though their operating budgets are being decreased. Managers must beget a motivation for their employees to complete tasks without motivator or praise while increasing responsibilities due to lack of potency man-power.Challenges such as ethnic environmental changes around the globe to a fault have an effect on the criminal justice system both in this country and abroad. These changes brought about situations that the criminal justice system was not prepared for at the top of this concern is terrorism. The first World flock Center raised concerns about foreign terrorism in the united republics, then domestic terrorism became an issue in 1995 with Timothy McVeighs dishonour on the Murrah Federal Buil ding in Oklahoma City. big concerns were raised and changes demanded after September 11, 2001, when the most deadly terror attack in this country was spawned. The question was raised concerning the country being adequately protected against terror attacks of that magnitude.Confusion within the laws that were created from past terror attacks have led to accusations of innocent persons being part of terror organizations. Confusion arises because of a structure that allows for terrorists to slip through cracks and loopholes within the system (Wilson, 1985). This confusion causes leaders within the law enforcement community to balance the sides of the system that society has at sea faith in. These managers would need to address issues, such as stereotyping of Middle easterly persons and persons of questionable faiths that society whitethorn associate with terror organizations. These leaders would need to encourage fair and unbiased treatment regardless of ethnical differences.A c hallenge that affects the criminal justice system, preferably the correctional branch, is facility overcrowding. prison home base overcrowding is a major problem in this country as the commodious bed shortage continues to grow at a rate of seven percent a year (Daniel Dunne, 2010). Overcrowding in prisons and jails area a continual issue due to the work of the law enforcement and court branches, in short, doing their jobs of incarceration and sentencing. Since this issue is caused by the other two branches fulfilling their sworn duties, there is no certain method currently available to solve this issue, thus it is for this primer that leaders within the two active branches must take into reflexion charges and sentencing of an offender.Leaders within the correctional branch find overcrowding more uncontrollable during budget crises where programs are cut or dismantled in efforts to compose money. Some wardens and other correctional managers have resorted to double or ternary bunking of prison cells, some managers find this a violation of the Eighth Amendment to the governance as it does reflect cruel and unusual punishment. As this crisis continues, managers continue to establish frustration as courts continue to sentence offenders to institutions with reduced room to house them properly. The challenge mostly less obvious to the public is the political arena that criminal justice management faces. All triad branches of the criminal justice system are affected by politics, from the legislation of laws to the employment of leaders within the system. Leaders must have the ability to adapt to both legal and political challenges (Allen & Sawhney, 2010). Most leaders and management of the criminal justices system are stuck in the middle between lobbyists for laws and annexations as well as other issues that benefit small entities of societies or communities only when may not favor either as a whole. This political hullabaloo faced by these leaders cau ses frustration, which leads to another challenge- colloquy to those employed in the system besides not in management positions.Communication barriers between management leaders and the subordinate group are commonplace. In any job there are two types of intercourse one from the individuals within the credit line the other is from the organizations within the occupation. Management must overcome the challenge of communication from individuals interpretation of messages through clarity and explanation and the manner for which it was delivered. All three branches of the criminal justice system have their own terminology, language, and interpretation of messages. The briny challenge for leadership is interpretation and standardizing of specified language to keep these messages on an even keel. Communication is among the most important tool in the criminal justice system and each individual organization any calamity can have a devastating effect on binary individuals from the orga nization to the victim(s). Therefore, communication must be clear and concise with everyone in the criminal justice system with a strategy to overcome lapses. aside from the language barriers within the criminal justice system come two of the greatest challenges faced by the criminal justice system go together, as one usually does not occur without the other. Ethnical and ethnic diversity issues can have an effect on society but even more so with a system of authority that operates off of communication and laws that may not be adhered to by people from after-school(prenominal) of the ob inspection and repair community or country. Since this country is majority multicultural, it is important for the criminal justice system to recognize and respect these cultures as they have speck with them.Because of this demand of recognition and respect, leaders within the criminal justice system must be open minded and go farther than the basic manager, they must become experts of these differ ent ethnicities and teachers of their organized groups, thus educating them to better serving them as they have contact with them. Cultural diversity issues are the main argument in many criminal justice organizations. The lack of knowledge of groups lead to offense and distrust from groups towards authority, this then leads to hostility, non-compliance, and lack of involvement from communities of different ethnicities. For criminal justice agencies to be successful in a respective(a) environment, leaders must address religious differences, language differences, and cultural traditions that may need to be taken into consideration.Lastly, the challenge of morality and ethics is perpetually a concern for managing leadership in any organization. Management within the criminal justice system is always under scrutiny in reference to ethics and moral standards. Morals are instilled in individuals throughout life, ethics is taught through an organizations environment. Leaders must f ind a happy medium when these two concerns clash and may cause a compromising situation. This common ground may need to patch up both the moral of the organizations personnel as well as the ethical conduct of the organization. Because the criminal justice field is held to standards higher(prenominal) than most of society, ethical conduct must be strict and mum when comparing to morals. Ethics will always be a concern, but superb leadership can stress adherence without improvising the system. In conclusion, challenges within the criminal justice systems management and leadership are never ending. Leaders and managers are vicariously held accountable for subordinates actions and must remain diligent with solutions to problems. To maintain proper adherence to insurance policy and procedures, leadership must be diligent in their efforts of education and communication of their subordinate employees as well as receptive to their ideas and solutions to issues that may be a challenge to t he system as well. These solutions can be instilled through training and promotion of ideas via strong structured leadership and motivation from within individual organizations in their entirety.ReferencesAllen, Jennifer & Sawhney, Rajeev, (2010) Administration and Management in pitiful justice.Retrieved fromhttp//www.sagepub.com/allen/main.htmDuelin, D. Professionalism in Nursing Essay

AbstractNursing requires non only having the fostering and compassion of helping others it requires having a sea captain mickledidate. Having and displaying a dutyal out tactile property requires you to have the attitude and appearance and the go awayingness to help others.Professionalism in NursingProfessionalismIn order to understand the concept of jobalism, we first deprivation to fructify the devise commerce. Webster describes concern as a chosen, paid occupation requiring prolonged breeding and formal qualification. Professionals therefore can be defined as individuals judge to display competent and skillful behaviors in alignment with their profession. Being professional then is the act of behaving in a manner defined and expect by the chosen profession. This framework for professionalism in nursing began with our early grow with Florence Nightingale who set the bar rather high in regards to vainglorious of herself to others and her expectation of excellence in practice. She was an inventor, a visionary, a missionary and she delivered every with a commitment to passion and love. We as nurses are no different. We conduct the tremendous responsibility of upholding the values of our profession. Our core nursing values define the driving force that dictates our beliefs and our behaviors.( Welling RE, Boberg JT. 2010)Nursing as a profession embodies galore(postnominal) values inherent in those who pursue nursing carry offers. When nurses are asked to severalize their core values, they are surprisingly consistent throughout the profession glob entirelyy. They imply honesty, responsibility, pursuit of new knowledge, belief in human dignity, equality of all patients and the desire to prevent and alleviate suffering. In other words, all of us as nurses have chosen this profession to help others in need and to improve the quality of spirit for all. That mantra has not changed since the days of Florence Nightingale.( Welling RE, Boberg JT. 20 10)So how does this conveyance to the expectations of your practice wherever you interface with patients? Your professionalism will be judged in your person-to-person behaviors and how you present yourself to all those around you, and through those behaviors, you tell the macrocosm who you are. Components of your professionalism acknowledge your attitude, your appearance and your willingness to help others.(Doukas, D.J 2009)AttitudeAttitude is everything The way you view your humankind and portray that view to others is everything. I am sure that you all can identify someone in your work environment with a revolting attitude that does their best to make the rest of the staff miserable. Unfortunately, many quantify they are successful pulling everyone into the puddle with them. People behave ilk this because they are looking for attention and by sucking everyone else into their drama they feature that attention and control the environment. This type of behavior is counter to the expectations of the nursing profession to focus on helping others rather than focusing on our cause problems. Personal issues need to be left at home and not taken into the work area. There are always going to be times when we face issues in our lives that threaten our positive outlook. I father it helpful to be grateful for everything I have.I believe that wake up in the morning is the best thing that can eliminate to me and the rest of the day fixs a gift. My mom told me this story just somewhat how she had the probability to meet a marvellous lady who lost her girl to crab louse recently. A tremendous lesson for her was to be grateful for every minute she had with her daughter and to convert the have tos to the rise tos. When her daughter was depressed that she had to go for more chemotherapy, she reframed that to the event that she got to go for more chemotherapy which kept her alive for oftentimes longer. If we begin to be grateful for what we have, our whole outlook on life changes and the way we relate to people becomes more meaningful. Be grateful because you get to be a nurse, you get to pick up your kids from sports, you get to go grocery shopping, you get to wake up in the morning the disceptation goes on and on.(Cruess, R.L 2006)( Blumenthal D. 2009)AppearanceThere is no way around the fact that people judge you by your personal appearance. Clean scrubs, neat hair, ransack shoes and a well groomed look makes the statement that you care about yourself as a person and therefore have the capacity to care about others. People that look sloppy may be perceived by others as unorganized, lazy, and uncaring. If you do not care about yourself, how can you truly care for others? A little attention to how you look goes a long way to display your professionalism.(Welling, R.N 2010)( Blumenthal D.2009)Willingness to Help OthersWhat has amazed me in nursing since I have been going to different clinical sites for 4 years is the observation t hat nurses do not necessarily support distributively other as we should. There needs to be solidarity in our profession, and yet, what I have observed, is a more individualized approach where we, as nurses, are more worried about ourselves than the whole of the profession. This translates into your willingness to help others and to work in concert as a team, as well as speak positively about your profession whenever you can. Remember, your profession is different than your job. At times we, as nurses, may tend to talk negatively about the nursing profession because we do not like where we work, and that you have control over. There is no question that nursing is a tough profession, both physically and mentally, and that with changes in the economy and the pressures of health care reform, the work environment will become even more challenging. To survive and actually thrive in nursing, we will all need to pull together as a profession and begin by working together at the bedside and being vast team players willing to support each other. Something magical happens when we give to others wonderful things begin to come back to us in far great ways than what we have originally given.(Inui, T.S 2008)Nurses are the most trusted profession in the world we have so much to give. Show the world how wonderful we are by always putting your best metrical foot forward not only for yourself, but for all of us in this wonderful profession Make a differenceReferencesCruess RL, Cruess SR. instruct medicine as a profession in the service of healing. faculty member Medicine 2006 72 941-952.
